Posted on 6:49 PM by Unknown

49.4 overs: Eranga to Dhoni, SIX, India WIN! Unbelievable stuff from
MS Dhoni. He is truly the champion finisher in ODI cricket. Full ball
outside off, Dhoni stays on the crease and crunches it flat over the
ropes at wide long off for a huge six, India have won the trophy in
style.
Welcome to the LIVE coverage of the 2013 Tri-Nation series final

Shaminda Eranga will open the attack for Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka have been bundled out for a modest 201-run total after 48.5
overs against India. An abrupt end to the Sri Lankan innings. At one
stage they were cruising at 171/3 with Sanga and Thirimanne carting
the bowlers all round the park. Thirimanne's wicket paved the way for
the collapse and from then on they lost 8 wickets for 30 runs to
surrender meekly. Jadeja was the pick of the bowlers once again taking
4 for 23. The pitch has some uneven bounce, but this should be an easy
chase for India.

That's FOURTH wicket for Ravindra Jadeja and THIRD stumping for Dhoni today!!

48.5 overs: OUT!! Ravindra Jadeja has got Suranga Lakmal out stumped
on a flipper. Lakmal skips down the track but misses it completely as

his THIRD wicket!!

Lasith Malinga comes to the crease for Sri Lanka.

on a fuller delivery. Herath misses out on the sweep and loses his
balance as Dhoni catches him short at the crease. Rangana Herath

for Sri Lanka!!

Ravindra Jadeja is back into the attack for India.
Shaminda Eranga comes to the crease for Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka!!

Perera out stumped on a flipper. Perera was down the track for the big

Angelo Mathews comes to the crease for Sri Lanka.

37.5 overs: That's OUT!! Ishant Sharma has got Lahiru Thirimanne out
caught at mid-off. Thirimanne was looking for the big shot but ends up
slicing it to Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Lahiru Thirimanne departs after
scoring 46 runs off 72 balls with four boundaries.

37.3 overs: SIX!! Kumar Sangakkara shimmies down the track and hammers
it over the long-off fence for the maximum. BRILLIANT batting by Sanga
here!!

37.2 overs: FOUR!! Kumar Sangakkara swivels across and whips it away
towards fine leg for another boundary.

37.1 overs: FOUR!! Kumar Sangakkara goes for the pull and gets a
top-edge towards third man for a boundary.
36.3 overs: FOUR!! Kumar Sangakkara gets across and employs the sweep
towards backward square leg for a boundary.
35.2 overs: FOUR!! Lahiru Thirimanne goes for the drive and gets a
thick outside edge towards third man fence for another boundary.
Thirimanne is TAKING ON Ishant Sharma here!!

35.1 overs: FOUR!! Lahiru Thirimanne slashes hard outside off and gets
it over point for a boundary.

Sri Lanka have opted for the Batting Powerplay. Get ready for some ACTION!!

DRINKS: The partnership between Kumar Sangakkara and Lahiru Thirimanne
has REVIVED Sri Lankan innings. The duo successfully BRAVED tough
challenges from Indian seamers early on and are now looking to
BREAK-FREE against the spinners. India need to BREAK this partnership
in order to put PRESSURE back on the Lankans.
The Lankans are looking GOOD here!!

33.5 overs: FOUR!! Lahiru Thirimanne swivels across and sweeps it hard
towards fine leg for a boundary.

33.4 overs: Kumar Sangakkara works it towards short fine leg for a
single and brings up his 77th ODI fifty for Sri Lanka. BRILLIANT
innings under pressure by Sanga!!
TIDY start by Jadeja, just four runs off it!!
Ravindra Jadeja comes into the attack for India.
With Kumar Sangakkara(38) and Lahiru Thirimanne(23) at crease, Sri
Lanka are currently at 111/2 after 29 overs.
28.1 overs: FOUR!! Kumar Sangakkara swivels across and scoops it
towards fine leg fence for a boundary.
27.5 overs: FOUR!! Lahiru Thirimanne gets on his knee and slog-sweeps
it towards deep midwicket fence for a blazing boundary.
23.4 overs: CATCH-DROPPED!! Suresh Raina has dropped Lahiru Thirimanne
in his follow through. Thirimanne hits it to the left of Raina who
spills it to long-on. That should have been taken. I reckon Ravindra
Jadeja must be GIGGLING somewhere on the field!!
Ravichandran Ashwin comes into the attack for India.

21.5 overs: FOUR!! Kumar Sangakkara rocks back and clouts the pull
towards deep midwicket for a boundary. Sanga timed it to PERFECTION!!
First sign of spin, Suresh Raina comes into the attack for India.
17.4 overs: CATCH-DROPPED!! Ravichandran Ashwin has dropped Lahiru
Thirimanne at first slip. Thirimanne went for the drive and got a
thick outside edge that was dying on Ashwin at first slip as he
manages to get a hand to it, but fails to gather it. Nevertheless, a
CHANCE put down for India!!
Okay, so MS Dhoni has now brought Virat Kohli into the attack here. I
wonder if Kohli BRAGS about his bowling over Dhoni's seam deliveries!!
Lahiru Thirimanne comes to the crease for Sri Lanka.

13.1 overs: OUT!! Bhuvneshwar Kumar has got Mahela Jayawardene out
caught at first slip. Jayawardene was looking to guide it towards
third man but gets a thick edge that goes straight to Ravichandran
Ashwin. Mahela Jayawardene departs after scoring 22 runs off 28 balls
with two boundaries and a six. BIG WICKET for India!!

The Physio is out in the middle for Jayawardene but he looks ALRIGHT though!!

12.3 overs: INJURY? Mahela Jayawardene has been STRUCK ON THE HAND by
a fiery bouncer from Ishant Sharma. Jayawardene was looking to pull
the short delivery but got cramped for room as the ball hits him on
the glove. Jayawardene looks to be in PAIN!!
12.2 overs: SIX!! Mahela Jayawardene adjusts with the bounce and pulls
it over fine leg for the first maximum in the innings. How about that
for a HIT?
11.4 overs: FOUR!! Mahela Jayawardene thumps it over the infield and
gets it towards long-off fence for a boundary. Jayawardene looks SOLID
for the Lankans today!!

MS Dhoni has brought Bhuvneshwar Kumar back into the attack. The
Indian skipper surely understands the IMPORTANCE of the partnership
between Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara that is currently in
its EARLY STAGE. Dhoni-led India are out FISHING here!!
10.1 overs: FOUR!! Kumar Sangakkara frees his arms and cuts it past
backward point for a boundary. CRACKING shot that from Sanga!!

Ishant Sharma comes into the attack for India.

9.6 overs: DIRECT-HIT!! Kumar Sangakkara pushes it towards mid-off and
sets off for a quick single. Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma quickly covers
ground and fires in a direct-hit but Sanga is comfortably home there!!

Another MAIDEN by young Bhuvneshwar Kumar!!

with two boundaries. EARLY BLOW for Sri Lanka!!
5.6 overs: FOUR!! Mahela Jayawardene employs the well controlled
lofted shot towards long-off fence for a blazing boundary.
4.2 overs: FOUR!! Upul Tharanga goes for the flick but the ball
brushes off his pads for a boundary. Bhuvneshwar Kumar is not on par
with his LINE today!!
Another TIDY over by Vinay Kumar, just two runs off it!!
2.6 overs: FOUR!! Upul Tharanga tries to adjust with the extra bounce
on the delivery and gets the inside half of the bat as the ball runs
away towards fine leg for a boundary. LUCKY-ESCAPE for Tharanga
there!!
2.2 overs: BIG-SHOUT for LBW!! Bhuvneshwar Kumar pitches the length
ball on the stumps as Upul Tharanga gets hit on the thigh-pad. Umpire
Nigel Long takes long enough to rule it in favour of the batsman. It
looked very CLOSE though!!
BRILLIANT start by Vinay Kumar, maiden-over for India!!
Vinay Kumar will bowl from the other end for India.
0.2 overs: FOUR!! Upul Tharanga waits for it and flicks it towards
fine leg for the first boundary in the innings. POOR line from
Bhuvneshwar Kumar there!!
Mahela Jayawardene and Upul Tharanga are out in the middle for Sri
Lanka while Bhuvneshwar Kumar will open the attack for India.
BREAKING NEWS: MS Dhoni is BACK!! He is leading the Indian side.
Toss: India won the toss and elected to field first against Sri Lanka.
India and Sri Lanka will meet for the 56th time in the last five years
as they lock horns in the Tri-Nation ODI series FINAL today. This
would be a repeat of the World Cup final in Mumbai back in 2011 and
while the stakes might not be that high; it would still be a good
opportunity for Sri Lanka to take REVENGE. While Team India got the
better of the islanders in the 6th ODI on Tuesday, their nemesis will
be eager to settle the scores on the BIG OCCASION.
MS Dhoni's highly speculated RETURN for the final today has provided a
big RELIEF for the Indian fans. After the stand-in captain indicated
that Dhoni could be FIT for the title clash during the toss on
Tuesday, the injured skipper was also seen in the WARM-UPS during the
innings break on the same day.

Players to watch out for today:

Shikhar Dhawan: The 27-year-old southpaw from Delhi has been busy
hitting the best of the bowlers to all parts of the ground recently.
The left-hander has been blazing amongst runs following the Champions
Trophy with 363 runs in 5 matches for Team India. His ability to take
control of the innings at the top-order gives India an edge in the
tri-nation ODI series.

Lasith Malinga: One of the most effective fast bowlers in modern-day
cricket, the 29-year-old packs a punch in Sri Lanka's bowling
department. He is the first and only bowler in the world to have two
World Cup hat-tricks, the first and only bowler to have taken three
hat-tricks in ODIs and he is also the first, and currently the only,
player to have taken four wickets in four consecutive balls in any
form of international cricket. His ability to bowl yorkers and slower
bowls at the death overs makes him a lethal weapon for the Lankans.

Virat Kohli: The 24-year-old right-hander was busy tearing the
opposition's bowling attack throughout the IPL and carried on with the
job in Champions Trophy for India. The right-handed dynamo was placed
fifth in the top run-scorer's list with 176 runs in 5 matches in the
recently concluded Champions Trophy. His blistering knock of 183 off
148 balls against Pakistan in the fifth match of Asia Cup 2012,
recorded the joint-fourth highest score by an Indian in ODIs.

Sachithra Senanayake: Fairly new to the international circuit, the
28-year-old off-spinner has proved his mettle to rumble with the big
boys. The right-arm spinner was the highest wicket-taker with 16
wickets in six matches during the 2011-12 Sri Lanka Premier League
tournament. He is also touted to possess one of the best doosras in
Sri Lanka. His exemplary performance in the recent IPL season for
Kolkata Knight Riders also earned him international recognition.

Ravindra Jadeja: The 24-year-old all-rounder has become one of India's
brightest players in the past one year. His ability to score vital
runs at the death overs alongside his devious left-arm spin makes him
one of the must have players in your team. He was recently awarded the
Golden Ball for his 12 wickets - most by a bowler - in 5 matches
during the recently concluded Champions Trophy.

Thisara Perera: The 24-year-old Lankan is one of the best all-rounders
on the international circuit today. His ability to keep wickets intact
and play the big shots whenever required will strengthen Sri Lanka's
middle-order in the tournament. Apart from being a ferocious batsman,
Perera is more than handy with his right-arm seamers. With 75 ODI
wickets in 56 games, he is one of the wicket-taking bowlers for Sri
Lanka.

Suresh Raina: One of the most prolific batsmen in the ODIs for India,
he comes to the party more often than not. The 26-year-old left-hander
scored 548 runs in 18 matches for Chennai Super Kings in the IPL this
year. Though he failed to make an impact with the bat in the Champions
Trophy recently, Raina will be eager to make the most of the
tri-nation ODI series for India. Not only is he capable of clearing
the boundaries when required, his off-spin is also very handy.

Jadeja, Dinesh Karthik(wk), Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Amit Mishra, Mohammed
